Wiggle Worm and Roly Poly

Tyson is a very active baby. He loves to roll and has just discovered rolling over from his back to his belly. He's also a wiggle worm. If I put him in the activity gym he will wiggle right out of it and then roll over.

You get the picture...

The Boyz

Well, after yesterday's doctor appointments, I have to say- I am thankful that I am learning to grocery shop cheaply right now! According to the doctor's predictions, Logan may be 6'3" tall when he is full grown. Of course, Tyson's future height hasn't been predicted but since he is bigger than Logan was at this age, there is a good guess he'll be at least that tall.
Seckman High School coaches- take note!
So here are the stats:
Logan- 2 years old
Height 37 3/4 inches = off the growth charts
Weight 29 1/2 lbs.
Body Mass Index: 14 (not overweight!)

Tyson- 4 months old
Height 27 1/2 inches = off the growth charts
Weight 17.4 lbs. = 95th percentile
Both boys did really well and were very cooperative at the appointment. Logan didn't even cry when he got his two shots!! Tyson had to get 5 vaccines. He didn't cry for the shots in his arms but the shots in his leg must have really hurt. He just cried a little!
Dr Glines gave us his run down of rules for Logan:
No drinking
No smoking (kids must start really early these days!)
No ATV/ 4 wheelers
No Trampolines (he only breaks this rule on Thursdays)
No Kool-aid or soda except on National Holidays and Birthdays
No TV in his bedroom (do people really put a TV in a 2 year old's bedroom????)
Wear a helmet when bicycling
I'm writing these down for my boys to read later!
Grandma and Grandpa Bradley went with us and were a BIG help! Thanks!
I guess my boys won't be this little for very long so I'm gonna try and enjoy the craziness!

The most beautiful room in my house

The Master bath!! It just got an EXTREME makeover. Here are some pictures of before, during, and after.
BEFORE:
Even Logan knew it was not pretty! There was a hole in the shower-- which made this shower completely unusable.
There were lovely light fixtures and cabinets. ugh!

There was a floor that never looked clean.

And the walls were peeling scraps of old wallpaper.

So, the whole room was gutted.

NEW drywall was installed.

The flooring and the subfloor were replaced. Tile was laid.

AFTER:
A new shower was installed!
New inset mirror and light fixtures installed!

Finished product: (Well, as soon as we get a shower curtain/bar that we can agree on!)

Coming soon... hall bath remodel but for now, he needs his privacy.

Goodbye!

Hey, Hey, Hey...

I learned someping new today! Those are the lyrics to Logan's favorite song right now. It's from a Barney video. Of course, only Logan pronounces it, "someping". aaanyway.... We have been learning a lot lately. We started the 2s curriculum on Hubbards Cupboard. It has been so much fun. We learned about Baby Animals this month. Here are just a few of the things we've done.

Logan "fed" his animals-- they like macaroni noodles! I got this idea from Parents as Teachers.

He painted with these cool poster paints. There is hardly any mess at ALL. I got them at Hobby Lobby!!

Logan matched baby animals to the correct mommy animal.

We practiced 1 to 1 correspondance by putting 1 baby animal cut out in each "bed" and then covering each one with a "blanket" (felt square). He LOVED this activity and did it over and over and over and over!

And then Logan wanted to "sleep" like the baby animals.

We also went to our first library story time. It was on Frogs. Logan LOVED it. He was the youngest kid so he was kind of crazy. I also found out he doesn't have a shy bone in his body. The librarian said, "Does anyone know anything about Frogs?" Logan yelled, "yes!" So she asked him to share. He stared at her like, "I have no idea what you are talking about." I want to get him a shirt that says, "I'm only 2." Since he's so big people always expect more out of him. He was so excited by the books and he'd yell out, "Frog! Fish! Snake!" A few times he just started singing, "da da da da da da." and we had to go to the back of the room until he could be quiet again. Since I tend to be a little shy in new situations, I wish he could be a little less outgoing ;) He even got to make 2 frog crafts and play a game with a blow up frog. He did really good during the game. He stayed in his spot and he took turns.
Tyson has been "learning" too. We've been practicing sitting up and he can sit for a few second tripod style. He's also been playing in the exersaucer. He really likes to grab toys and has begun to pass toys from one hand to the other.

Giggles with daddy

This boy loves to laugh.

He's already ticklish.

Right under his chubby chin.

Dreamin' Big

So, these cute little girls in my neighborhood came by last Sunday night. There were 3 of them and they ranged in age from 9-12 probably. They said, "Hi, we're starting a club called Dream Big. It's for all kids in the neighborhood and your son can be in it if he wants. Tonight we just wanted to introduce ourselves and tell you about the club." They were very polite. I told them, "Thank you." but I had no intention of sending my 2 year + 1 week old all the way up the street for a "club". Well, about 15 minutes later they came back with this- it cracked me up-- maybe it will crack you up too:
They told me it was a "rough draft". Well, that's good, since they misspelled educated! Oh, and after I saw" pool included" I knew Logan was definitely OUT! And... I wonder if their moms know they are offering free snacks to the whole neighborhood?????

Four Months Old!!

Tyson is four months old today! I'm in shock. It has gone so fast! I think the second child grows up even faster than the first. Tyson is such an awesome addition to our little family. As his momma, I think he's such a sweet and cute baby.
I love the way he's losing his hair on top and getting new hair all at once. It makes him look like a strange, balding old man!
I love his baby blue eyes and I hope he keeps them forever and ever!
I love his ridiculously chubby cheeks!
I love how he's ticklish under his chin (just like his brother).
I love that he laughs out loud.
I love how he sucks his 2 fingers. I don't love that he may be teething already. I do love that Benadryl on his gums makes him stop crying!!
I love that he bats a ball with his tiny hands and shakes his dinosaur chimes.
I love how he kicks me with his tiny feet and laughs when I act like it hurt.
I love him. Head to toe!

Momma's Day 2010

You know those parenting moments that you HOPE you can remember for the rest of your life? I had one of those on Mother's Day. I got up to feed Tyson around 6. Logan and Greg got up around 7. I was sitting on the couch changing Tyson's diaper when Logan came running in from the garage/basement/wherever they were... he had on footed jammies and he was holding roses. He had the hugest smile on his face and he was dancing around from excitement. He yelled, "Here go, Momma." and gave me the flowers. It was so special. I don't think I'll ever forget it. But just in case I do, thankfully, I have a blog!!

We spent Mother's Day with my family this year. The boys-- with a lot of help from daddy-- gave me roses, an AWESOME vase, chocolate, and a card!! They spoil me. We went to church with Grandma and Grandpa and they got to show off their boys. Logan really liked seeing Nick and Alex at church. Then we went to Grandma and Grandpa's to eat lunch, take naps, and play. Logan got his birthday present from Aunt Julie, Uncle Ryan, Nick and Alex. I think it will require a helmet!!

We even got some good family pictures!! (I left my camera at my parent's house, I think. So I'll post pictures later!)

It was a "Happy Momma Day"-- as Greg taught Logan to say!

Goin' to Grandma's house

We went to visit Grandma Hunn on Thursday. My mom, sister, Alex, and my boys and I rode together. My cousins Jenni and Meghan were able to come too. Jenni brought her little girl Anna-- her boys were at school. It was a gorgeous day and the kids loved being outside.
Here is Alex, Anna, Julie, and Logan sitting next to the goldfish pond. The kids looked at the fish in the goldfish pond, scared the chickens, swung on the tire swing until they almost puked, and played on the deck... you know, the things kids have been doing at Grandma's for over 30 years. My Grandma's brother, Uncle Jim was in town. He lives in Alaska. He would actually be Logan's great-great Uncle Jim. Here he is showing Logan how to get the fish to come up to the surface to say, "Hi."We all really enjoyed our time together!

Rice cereal- first try

So, my big baby boy eats 8 oz or more at each feeding. I'm not sure how much he eats when he's nursing but with the bottle he guzzles 8 oz. in about 10 minutes!! I have been SO HUNGRY after feeding him lately so I thought maybe I'd try some rice cereal and give myself a break.

Well, he's not quite ready for it yet. (He is only 3.5 months, even though he looks about 9 mo. in size).

He definitely was impressed with the taste of the rice cereal but he couldn't quite get the tongue to work right. We'll try again next week!

After the cereal, he had to have a bath. Tyson HATES baths. If you walked into our house during one of Tyson's baths, you would swear someone was dying. He screamed through the entire thing. He didn't much like the drying off part either.

But once it was all done, his tummy was a little fuller, and he was clean, he decided he liked me again!

2nd birthday party

On Saturday,Logan celebrated his birthday with mommy and daddy. Greg and I had put his sand and water table together while watching Tornado warnings on TV on Friday night. On Saturday morning, Logan got up and never noticed his giant birthday present sitting in the middle of the living room floor. Finally he checked it out and he loved it. He liked to sit in it and race his cars in it. We haven't even put sand or water in it and he already likes it. Then Greg took Logan to Target and let him pick out 2 toys for his birthday. In the afternoon, Greg and Logan went to Laumier Sculpture park while I stayed home with Tyson and got the house clean for the party. We took Logan to McDonalds for fries and chicken to celebrate his birthday night.

Logan celebrated his second birthday today. Grandma and Grandpa Higgins, Great-Grandma Higgins, and Grandma and Grandpa Bradley came over for lunch after church. We ate lunch and then had birthday cake. I made his cake this year. I am HORRIBLE at making cakes. Just ask my sister. I remember one time she fell on the floor laughing at my cake that I made for my mom. It was that bad. I think I threw a knife at her afterwards. It was a butter knife. ANYWAY,

I really made this cake and these cupcakes. There was a pig a sheep and a chick Can you tell I'm way proud? I know they look homeade but the fact that they don't have pieces of cake in the icing and they actually resemble a barn and animals is almost miraculous.
Logan did great at blowing out the candle. In fact, he did it so fast that I missed getting a picture and we had to do it over.

Then my mom fed him cake while my dad gave him spice drops and handfuls of m&ms. Can we say sugar rush????
After cake we opened presents. Logan got a spiderman tricycle. He's already really good at riding it. It plays music and makes noises. It even has turn signals on it. He doesn't push the pedals yet. He just moves it with his feet but he'll grow into it. He rode it all over the house.

He also got a rake and 2 shovels. Both sets of Grandparents got him a shovel. They must know he likes dirt... just like his daddy. Greg asked me, "Are those shovels for Logan or for me?" Well, I guess he can share them...
Logan also got a big yellow dump truck. He can load it with all of his blocks or toys or dirt. He calls it his, "big, big truck."

He also likes to "ride" it!

After presents, Logan and Tyson played with their grandparents. They got a lot of attention. Logan put on a few shows... jumping, running, and singing for the grandparents.
When the grandparents left, I put both boys on a big blanket on the living room floor and we watched Ice Age until dinner time. Both kids were laughing the whole time. It was so cute.

By 6 pm both kiddos were asleep. They were SO worn out!!
