A day in the life

WARNING:

This blog post is ridiculously long. I thought it would be fun to record all that I we do at the Higgins house in a day. Fun for me, that is. Not so fun for others to read. It was really theraputic, though, to write it and go back and read it. Any other mommies that feel like they do A LOT in a day and never get anything done??? I was able to look back and see that I did accomplish some good things. Unless you're totally bored, you probably don't care what I do all day but feel free to scroll down and see the pictures of my 2 cuties!

6:20 Tyson (and mommy) wake up. I snuggle with Tyson while drinking a diet coke and try to explain to him that Higgins babies should sleep past 7.

7:17 Logan wakes up. Change Logan. Change Tyson.

7:25 Logan has a breakfast of waffles-- which he calls "awfuls" and cheese.
8:00 Feed Tyson. Logan watches Super Why. The former reading teacher in me cringes at this show and I vow not to let Logan watch again... until tomorrow. He also does two puzzles, blocks, and spends a good deal of time ramping a pull toy over a blanket... all boy!
8:30 Logan watches Dinosaur Train whileI clean the kitchen and Tyson is in his bouncer.

8:45 Tyson does "tummy time" while I read books to him and Logan

9:00 All that reading puts Tyson right to sleep. Logan and I build "Mount Higgins" out of the couch cushions and he scales it several times and then swims in this "ocean"

9:20 Dress/Change Logan.

9:30 Logan watches Elmo's world while I prep dinner, put in a load of laundry, and check facebook and email.

10:00- Read Highlights magazine- a gift from Grandma and Grandpa Higgins. Do a few matching games in the magazine and Logan's FAV of the magazine each month... the action rhyme
We do this over, and over, and over, and over...

10:18- Logan's snack- Yogurt and Multigrain cheerios. Tyson in the swing.

10:19- Tyson out of swing. That was a bad idea.

10:25 Feed Tyson. Logan watches "action bible songs" DVD from Cedarmont kids.

10:40 Logan bored with mommy feeding Tyson. He begins smashing Froot Loops with his hammer. Not sure where the Froot Loops even came from.

10:51 Read "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see?" Holy Cow, Logan can almost recite the book.

11:00 Logan watches Barney-- or as he calls it, "Happy"-- in his pack 'n play. He still loves the pack 'n play. He picks a few toys, throws them in there, and actually ASKS to get in every day during Barney.
11:30 Introduce Logan to glue while Tyson sleeps in the swing. We make this heart picture.
11:40 I finally get dressed and brush my teeth. Is it considered getting dressed if you just change from one pair of pajama pants to another clean pair of pajama pants? Brush Logan's teeth.

11:45 Listen to our Hap Palmer CD while Logan dances around the kitchen playing his coffee can "frum" (drum) and fish maracas from Uncle Brian.

12:00 Lunch- noodles (of course), fruit, and oatmeal (at Logan's request).

12:20 Reading time- ABC Nursery Rhymes and Barney book- Tyson wakes up so he gets to join in. Logan wants to hold his hand...awwww

12:30 Logan goes to bed after saying "night-night" to his tractor lamp... our new naptime routine. Unfortunately Tyson= not so sleepy... lays in my lap while I blog this one handed.

1:07 Change Tyson. Gross.

1:11 Tyson starts yawning.. could I get a nap today???? Could be a possibility. I hope!!

1:21 Tyson asleep in crib.

1:51 Tyson wakes up-- but I got a nap. Mommy like.

2:07 Logan wakes up. He is somewhat unhappy.

2:15 Tyson needs diaper change. Logan is VERY unhappy. Both kids crying. Bribe Logan with Fruit Snacks.

2:21 Crying stops momentarily.

2:30 Feed Tyson. Logan is unhappy again. Crying commences. Bribe Logan with Barney Songs video.

2:40 Squeeze Logan onto the recliner where I am nursing so crying will stop!

3:00 Logan plays blocks while I jot down notes for my fun blog post. Logan wants to "write" so I let him draw on paper with a pen.

3:15 Change Tyson and put him back in his bouncer.

3:22 Wash dishes with my #1 dishwasher, Logan.

3:45 Boil rice for final dinner preparation. Logan "cooks" beans on the floor. (He dumps beans into different containers and cups. It keeps him busy).

4:00 Tyson has tummy time again and we read books.

4:15 I pick up toys in the living room. Logan is in the kitchen. It gets really quiet and I find him here. LOL!
4:20 Best part of the day... Daddy comes home!!!!
4:45 Dinner. Logan says his first prayer by himself! He says, "Pa-pa, Nick, Logan, Pa-pa, Jesus, The End. Amen."

Logan eats salad for dinner. It's one of his new favorite foods. Weird-o.

5:00 Let Logan finish up his valentine's day candy from Grandma and Grandpa Bradley for Dessert.
5:15 Give Tyson a bottle. Greg gives Logan a bath. I get a few minutes of quiet to watch the news. I love my husband!
5:55 Watch evening TV shows with Greg and Logan and Logan plays.
6:30 Logan watches "Scrubs". Oddly he loves this show. Maybe he's going to be a doctor someday. Maybe he's going to support his mom and dad!!
6:45 Start winding down for bedtime-- for Logan, that is--- I WISH it were my bedtime.
7:00 Logan in bed. Watch American Idol with my wonderful BFF, my husband. Rock Tyson.

9:00 Feed Tyson. Put Tyson to bed. Pray that he will sleep a lot of hours in a row. Go to bed.

This bud's for you

Daddy requested a picture of his two boys together on the blog... so here's a picture of your two buds... just for you!

And here's a picture of their best buddy, "da-da"

Playmates

Alex (And Grandma, Grandpa, and Aunt Julie) have been coming up on Thursdays to visit us. Grandma and Grandpa take Alex and Logan to the playground at the mall and then to eat Chinese noodles at the food court. Julie and Tyson and I stay at home and have adult conversation.
Logan and Alex are becoming good playmates. At the mall, Logan yells, "Alex!" at the playground. He was doing that at home today too. The boys went into Logan's room and found these dress up hats. They decided to wear them while they were playing. The picture is not great... if you know Logan and Alex, you know the fact that they are both sitting still at the same moment is well, miraculous! Logan was facinated with looking at Alex instead of looking at the camera. Alex was singing "The farmer in the Dell" and couldn't stop for a picture! But it's exciting that these two are becoming such good playmates!

Stats

I took Tyson to the doctor yesterday for his one month check up. He weighed 11 lbs, 7 oz. He is 22 3/4 inches long. He is 90th percentile for height AND weight. Big boy! He is 85th percentile for head size.
Logan went to the doctor too to have a recheck on his ears. Luckily they were clear... so no more antibiotics!!!!! He has been on an antibiotic since Christmas.
Grandpa Bradley came along to help with the boys during the appointment and it was a BIG help! He and Logan spent a lot of time looking at the fish in the doctor's office and reading the Elmo book. Thanks, Grandpa! (Grandma had to stay at home to teach her piano students.)
Other updates on the boys:
Tyson- he went 6 hours between feedings on Monday night. Mommy enjoyed the sleep. No repeat performance yet. He is showing his smiles more and more. He loves to smile at Logan. It's hard to get a good picture but maybe this will suffice.
Tyson also enjoys tummy time and is getting better at lifting his head.

Logan- He is talking it up. Every morning he gets up and says, "Where Tyson? He sleeping." He is addicted to Barney (or as he says, "happy") He is getting more imaginative in his play. He makes up games to play using balls and the blue suction thing we got from the hospital. He's pretty good at entertaining himself. He also loves to pretend to be animals. He slithers on the floor and says "s-s-s" for a snake. He also pretends to be a dog and a chicken. He can also roar really loud like a dinosaur. His cousin Alex (who can roar REALLY loud) taught him that!

One month old

Tyson is one month old today!! Woo hoo! He is growing and changing like crazy.

I forgot to update when I took him the to pediatrician for his two week appointment. He was 9 lbs. 12 oz. and 22 1/2 inches long. He had gained over a pound and grew an inch! (Sorry Tyson that I forgot to update that at the time... I wouldn't have forgotten with your brother... I think you document everything with the first. I remember my Aunt Maggie, who has 4 boys, told me she took pictures of everything with her first and by her 4th boy they took a picture of him the day he was born and the day he went to kindergarten-- there's nothin' in between. But I understand the neglect, Tyson... I'm the second child too!)

I didn't forget your one month birthday, though. Happy one month to you!

Snow babies

We got a little snow this weekend. We avoided the BIG snows of the East coast. I heard they got 40" in Maryland. We got a much nicer 1 1/2-2" snow. It wasn't too cold either so Daddy and Logan got bundled up and went out to play.

Logan has cabin fever in a major way. He definitely needed to get outdoors.

I really should make Greg write this blog since he took these pictures. But rest assured, I interviewed him for this story... and anything I didn't know, I just made up.

Logan and Greg went on a "snow hike" through the neighborhood. Logan face planted in a neighbor's driveway and now has a bruise on his cheek- but he didn't even cry!

It looks like they did a little sledding.

Apparently, daddy may have thrown some snowballs at Logan's face???

Tyson stayed in with mommy... where it was warm and cozy!

I tried to get him to give up the paci for his picture...

... no luck with that!

Photo Booth

Together, these 2 are TROUBLE! They got a hold of the camera and took some "photo booth" type photos!
