Father's Day 2009

It was Greg's second Father's Day as a father! He is such a good dad to Logan. Logan is his little buddy and pretty much thinks everything daddy does is great! (Including laughing after burping, unfortunately). When daddy gets home from work, Logan races to the front door and squeals! Logan tries to mimic everything Greg says and does.

Greg is so good with Logan. He wrestles him every night when he gets home from work... gets some of that little boy energy out. He also reads to Logan in the evenings. Logan always picks a book and takes it to daddy to be read.
This is a rare moment, but sometimes Daddy and Logan even have snuggle time together. It's rare because Logan is not very good at sitting still long enough to snuggle! On Father's Day we went to early service and then came home a chilled out for a little bit. I got these pictures of Logan snuggling and watching TV with Daddy.
First Logan laid in Daddy's lap.

Then Daddy laid in Logan's lap.

Greg, Logan and I both love you and we're glad God picked you for us!!!

Happy Gotcha Day

Today Logan gets a new cousin!! My sister's family, Julie, Ryan, and their 5 year old son, Nick are in China adopting their 4 yr. old son Alex. We are so excited... we thought we'd send a special message.

Logan is a little tired out from church this morning... he wasn't as excited about taking pictures today as mommy was :) But I'm sure he'll be excited when he has 2 boy cousins at Grandma and Grandpa Bradley's house to chase after.

Oh, and also Happy Father's Day to Greg! You're the best!! I'm so glad Logan has you for a daddy! I'll post more Father's Day stuff later.

It's Summer...

I know scientifically it's not summer but it feels like it here in MO! It's HOT and HUMID. So we set up Logan's baby pool on the deck and had a blast.

Playdate with Kaylee

Logan's friend Kaylee came over to play last Wednesday. They had a lot of fun together. Logan got super hyper when they got here. Probably the most hyper I've ever seen him get. I guess he wanted to show her all of his toys. She crawled around after him and took it all in. I took some pictures but mine are really bad compared to Julie's (Kaylee's mom) pictures. I am going to stop taking pictures at the same places as her. For some reason, hers are always really cute and mine are missing 1/2 a head. So check out her cute pictures here: www.katerbergs.blogspot.com

baby talk

So, this might seem like more of a "brog"- a brag on my kid blog -but I want to share all that my little boy is saying to me these days. He's 13 1/2 months old and so far here are the words in his vocabulary:
momma
dadda
baby
ouch
aahh- choo
yes (and ya)
no
moo
woof (more like f-f-f)
hi
bye
boo (and once he said, "peek-a-boo" as clear as could be to grandma, but it only happened once)
more
all done (more like "all duh")
hop
tickle (he says ti-ka, ti-ka-- and grabs his belly)
uh-oh
eyes
shoe
juice
cheese
happy
He basically talks non-stop. Usually in jibberish. He has also taken to pointing to people in the store and then going into lengthy jibberish to me about them. Sometimes embarrassing.
He also loves to talk on the phone. He picks up his play cell phone (or daddy's blackberry... whichever is closer) and he holds it to his head and says, "hi". The other day he had a very angry call on his cell phone. His whole body got tense and he started yelling in baby jibberish. I promise, Greg nor I remember going off on anyone on our cell phone so we don't think we modeled it. Maybe he saw it on TV or something?
I'm sure soon I'll be tired of his excessive talking and when he gets to be a preschooler I'll wish he didn't talk and ask so many questions, but for now I love to hear him learn new words every day. I can't wait to hear what he says next!

first steps

Logan took his first steps unassisted yesterday. He has taken one or two wobbly lunge into mommy and daddy steps before but this time he took 5 to 6 steps and did it over and over and over. I didn't think to try and get it on video until today. I had to hide in the background because Logan gets fascinated by the camera and forgets about walking or anything else when he sees the camera. Also it took me awhile to figure out how the video function on our digital camera works. By the time I got around the videoing, he was pretty much tired of this trick. So I'll try again later but here it is for your viewing pleasure... if I can upload it, that is. Let's try this....

Quick Update

I haven't been very good at blogging lately. Here are some things we've been doing around the Higgins household.

We went to Faust Park with Julie and Kaylee.

We rode the carousel at Faust park. Julie got a great picture of us... too bad my camera skills were seriously lacking when I took the picture of Julie and Kaylee. Sorry, Julie.

We had a few bad hair days. (oh, and Logan learned to point!!)

We learned that Logan can devour about a quart of Grandpa Bradley's strawberries in 5 minutes or less.

We bought a minivan. Logan is reading up on our purchase. I guess he'll be the expert. It's a 2006 Toyota Sienna.

Well, I think Logan is ready for the mamma paparazzi to end so I'll stop posting pictures now.
