The Search for the Great Pumpkin

We didn't find it, but we sure had fun looking! Greg's family came on Sunday to go to the pumpkin patch with us. We had chili at our house first and then went to Stuckmeyer's.

The pumpkin patch was really, really crowded. They had lots of stuff to do. Jared enjoyed the playground a lot. There were lots of photo spots but so many people it was hard to get a picture!!

I think Greg went through the corn maze about 5 times and Greg and Joyce went through "Fort Spooky". Here is a picture of Greg and Joyce coming out of "Fort Spooky".

Logan liked seeing the pumpkins and the animals and hanging out with the guys!

After we played for a while, Brian stole a wagon and we went over to take pictures with the pumpkins.

We didn't buy any pumpkins because they weren't very pretty pumpkins and I want a pretty pumpkin for my new front porch!!

Logan was EXHAUSTED by the end of the trip. He had missed both naps that day because he had been to church and then the pumpkin patch. He never got fussy though he just got slap happy before bedtime and kept laughing at everything. I put him to bed about 6:30 pm and he is still sleeping. (It's 7:10 am, no matter what blogger says.)

Parents as Teachers

Our first parents as teachers visit was last night. Logan did really good. He was very interested in the toys the parent educator, Amy, brought with her and was very happy, which is good because evenings are his fussier times! He did spit up in a bowl all over some toys that Amy brought with her.
Greg behaved too :) And I think the lady was about to give him Daddy of the Year award (which I think he deserves). Apparently not that many dads participate in the program.
It seems to be a great program and will be good for us as a family!

Playtime

I have to say, I'm loving the 5 month old stage. Logan is still in the "sweet baby stage" but he's finally able to play, and he's learning so much every day. Between his naps each day I spend time doing activities with Logan. I read it stimulates him and will help him sleep more when it is nap time. Plus the elementary educator in me has to have the day obsessively planned.

Today we played with a baseball.

We did tummy time.

We did mirror play. He loved this!

Well, for a while.

(Don't know why his ear looks freakish like that. He was so mad at that baby for not playing with him.)

We read books. Although he's at the stage where he mostly wants to eat the books.

We did games and exercises and music time and the fun didn't stop just 'cause daddy came home....

Man, Logan was worn out from all that playtime!

Tonight we have our first Parents as Teachers visit. Hopefully our parent educator will give us more playtime ideas for Logan.

The "other" blog

I recently started another blog. I just wanted to try it out, see if it made sense and then I was going to release it to the world (or my "mom friends").
Here was my idea, each week I spend a lot of time finding coupons to make my grocery shopping cheaper. A lot of my friends have told me they don't use coupons. A lot of my friends aren't stay at home moms and clipping coupons is time consuming. I use a system I found online but it still takes me a lot of time. So I had this idea that I would find one really, really good deal each week and share it with my friends. I was inspired by Ben Muelisneoohonehen's (I never know how to spell that) task of the day and I figured I'd make a deal of the week.
HERE IS THE PROBLEM:
I got this message from blogger that told me that a "robot" read my blog and thought it was spam so now I have to wait for a "human" to read my blog and review it and determine if it is spam or not. I don't even know what spam is but you better believe after this, I'm going to find the best deal on spam in St. Louis and put it on my blog.
So, robots QUIT READING MY BLOG! I hope the "human" who is assigned to read my blog enjoys last weeks deals at the local Shop 'n Save. And anyone interested can check out my "other" blog at stlsavvyshopper.blogspot.com. "They" will tell you it is probably spam, they will tell you to proceed at your own risk, but they will let you read it.

Ashes, ashes we all fall down

Maybe Logan isn't as competent at sitting as I thought.

Ok, I don't think it's necessarily funny that my little boy fell. I just think it's amusing that I got a picture of his first fall.

I'm pretty sure you only document everything with your first child.

He was fine by the way. I picked him up and gave him lots of kisses!

Just think of all he learned by fallling. He probably has a much more complete understanding of the Laws of Gravity now. His science teacher grandpa will be so happy!

The Doctor Said to Start With Meats...

He didn't like it!

Seriously though, his doctor told us to start with the pureed meats then do vegetables and then do fruit. At first I thought I had found a wacko doctor but then I did a little research and La Leche league (the breastfeeding gurus) also suggested a similar plan. So I broke out the pureed turkey. GROSS! The smell of it alone... ugh. Logan had no intention of eating it. I think he could see right through my comments of "yum, yum... eat your delicious turkey."

Mommy gave in to this look so now Logan is eating veggies... and loving it!

In other news:

Logan can now sit up on his own for a few minutes at a time without toppling over. He has to use his hands to hold himself up but he can pick up one hand at a time and grab a toy.

He can also roll over from tummy to back. I don't have a picture of that but here is "tummy time" with froggy!

Yes, this was my brag on my baby blog of the day but he is learning so much right now that I have a lot to share!

Of course, we still have a lot of projects to do but we are proud of what has been done. We bought the house on April 17 and had Logan on May 1. Life has been crazy busy! I will try to keep this blog updated as there are more changes to come in our house.

We are currently working on the master bath and the laundry room. (Oh, and when I say "we" I mean Greg... with extra help from my mom and dad!)
