The Doctor Said to Start With Meats...

He didn't like it!

Seriously though, his doctor told us to start with the pureed meats then do vegetables and then do fruit. At first I thought I had found a wacko doctor but then I did a little research and La Leche league (the breastfeeding gurus) also suggested a similar plan. So I broke out the pureed turkey. GROSS! The smell of it alone... ugh. Logan had no intention of eating it. I think he could see right through my comments of "yum, yum... eat your delicious turkey."
Mommy gave in to this look so now Logan is eating veggies... and loving it!

In other news:

Logan can now sit up on his own for a few minutes at a time without toppling over. He has to use his hands to hold himself up but he can pick up one hand at a time and grab a toy.

He can also roll over from tummy to back. I don't have a picture of that but here is "tummy time" with froggy!

Yes, this was my brag on my baby blog of the day but he is learning so much right now that I have a lot to share!

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

Here are some before and after shots of our new home.

The front of the house when we bought it. (April 17, 2008)

The front of the house after Greg removed bushes, etc.

The living room before. Originally this room had 1977 wallpaper and red wainscoating. Unfortunately I didn't get a photo of that beautiful decor.

The living room after.

The kitchen before.

The master bedroom before. Who paints their walls these colors?!?

The master bedroom after.

The backyard before. Oops, I didn't take a picture of the before. Just picture an overgrown jungle and lots of leaves.

The backyard after. Greg cut down the overgrown jungle. He's still working to finish this project.

Of course, we still have a lot of projects to do but we are proud of what has been done. We bought the house on April 17 and had Logan on May 1. Life has been crazy busy! I will try to keep this blog updated as there are more changes to come in our house.
We are currently working on the master bath and the laundry room. (Oh, and when I say "we" I mean Greg... with extra help from my mom and dad!)

First Family Vacation

We took our first family vacation to Branson with my parents and Julie (my sister) and Ryan and Nick. We left on Friday morning and made a few stops to nurse Logan, eat lunch, change diapers, etc. The trip to Branson takes a little bit longer when you have a baby in the car.
On Friday night we stayed at the Best Western in Branson. We had dinner at Famous Dave's or Crazy Dave's or something... anyway, we celebrated Ryan and Greg's birthday's since they both have September birthdays.

After Dinner we went and saw a light show or something... I'm not sure... it was almost time for Logan to eat so my brain was elsewhere! But here we are at whatever it was that we were seeing. There was fire and lots of fountains and it was cool to look at.
We went back to the hotel and swam in the pool and sat in the hot tub. My mom fed Logan his rice cereal and then watched him while we swam. My dad and Nick played "Captain Hook" in the swimming pool. We went to bed at 9 pm and Logan slept great in his pack and play... even though we had really loud kids next door to us who stayed up until 4 am jumping on the beds!! On Saturday we went to Silver Dollar City. Logan seemed to enjoy riding his stroller and the tram (the only "rides" he could do), listening to the music, watching the people, and watching Nick ride the rides.
He also seemed to really like the goats... what a country boy!
Logan, Greg, and Nick with the goats.

Mom and Dad took Logan and Nick a few times so we could hang out "kid free". We went through the cave and rode a few rides.

After a long day at Silver Dollar City, we went back to the hotel and put Logan to bed. He did great on Saturday night too. Here is Logan with Nick on Sunday morning... they still look tired. Silver Dollar city must have wiped them out.
We left Branson on Sunday morning and drove to Bass Pro Shop in Springfield. Greg had a lot of fun showing Logan all the outdoorsmen stuff.

Another family picture in Bass Pro... I could have done a whole blog on this.

When we left Bass Pro, we drove to Cuba, MO for lunch. It was past time for Logan to eat and he was tired of being in a car seat. SO.... I let him suck on fruit snacks... which is probably not Dr. recommended but it made everyone in the car happier!

We got home around 4 and Logan and I both fell asleep while I was nursing him... we were worn out! Logan did great on the trip. He adjusted well to not having a nap for 3 days and was generally a happy baby most of the time. But I don't think he wants to see his car seat for a while so we'll be staying at home for a few days!

Random pictures of my cutie

Happy Autumn! Logan is ready for deer season! I realized that I had several pictures from September that never made it onto my blog. So here are some pics of my sweet baby boy!

Logan in his sun hat.

Logan in his bumbo.

Logan sharing his toys with Kaylee Katerberg when she came over to play! (or maybe he's thinking about pulling her hair??)

And here is another fall cutie...

What's Best

So, Logan is going through a phase (at least I hope it's a phase) of refusing a bottle and in general refusing any kind of food from any person besides his mommy. I nurse him every 3 hours still so it's pretty constant and I would love for him to take a bottle from Greg or Grandma occasionally but he wants nothing to do with it. In fact, he doesn't seem so hip on eating rice cereal when Greg is on the other side of the spoon either.
We've read every book, website, etc. and none of the tips seem to help so I think we'll just get through the next several months and we won't even remember this hurdle.

I did get funny pictures of Greg trying to feed Logan rice cereal the other night. Logan was COVERED in rice cereal after Greg finished and went straight into the tub.

While I was listening to Greg try to coax Logan into eating, it kind of made me think of how God must feel when we, his children, refuse to listen to him. I could hear Greg telling Logan that the stuff in the bottle was the same stuff mommy gives him. Greg was so patient and loving with Logan the whole time but Logan knew what he wanted and he didn't seem to understand that Greg was offering him good things. I need to remember that God is my father and he wants to give me good things and I need to accept those things for what they are, blessings... even when sleepless nights and non-bottle drinking baby don't feel like blessings :)

Logan at his new crib

We moved on into our new house on Saturday. We had awesome help from our families. We loaded the truck at the townhouse at 9 am and we had it unloaded in the new house by 11:30 am. Quick move! In fact, things were flying into our new house so rapidly, I didn't get many pictures, but here are a few...

Logan and Greg just lounged on the couch while Mommy did all the work! Ha, ha!

Here is moving day as told by Logan Higgins....

you're taking me where???

Oh... I get a bigger room???... ok, let's go....

Wow, look at all the exciting places to sit and all the cool stuff to look at. I can even stare at my new ceiling fans while mommy tries to take my pic.

Oh, and the food at this new house, it's amazing! My mommy fed me rice cereal for the first time last night. I gobbled it up. Yum, yum.

All in all, I like the new "crib". Mommy will post more pictures of it later.
