Logan's favorite reads

Logan seems to enjoy hearing stories more each day. I wanted to record some of our favorite books so I don't forget. Maybe you can share some of these reads with your babies. Logan's own book club! I don't actually know if they are his favorites but he sure does a lot of kicking and smiling when I read these:

1. Sleepytime Rhyme by Remy Charlip: This book is a simple rhyme: "I love you, I think you're grand, there's none like you in all the land. I love your hair, your head your chin, your neck, each ear, your checks, your skin...." He loves when I point to his head and chin, etc. I get lots of big smiles with this book plus I get to tell my baby I love him on each and every page.

2. The Magic Hat by Mem Fox: My first graders loved this rhyme and so does Logan. He kicks his feet on the rhyme verse that is repeated on each page.

3. Wake up big Barn: His favorite page... "Owls on the Night Watch, Shooby, Hooby, Hoo." When I say, "Shooby, Hooby, Hoo", he laughs!

4. Goodnight, My Duckling. When I tell him, the baby duckling lost his mommy, his eyebrows go way up!

5. Ten Tiny Tickles by Karen Katz. My favorite page... "7 squishy tickles on a teeny-weeny tush."

Ok, I have to add my favorite book to read to Logan. On the Night you were born by Nancy Tillman. A friend of my parent's gave this book to me. She is a retired reading specialist. I had never heard of this book. It's wonderful and should be in every child's library. It's very interactive and has beautiful illustrations. It turns every day occurances into magic! The idea is that on the night baby was born, magical things happened, like the moon stayed up all night and the bears at the zoo stayed up dancing and the geese honked a song for baby. Then it finishes with these thoughts,
"So whenever you doubt just how special you are and you wonder who loves you, how much and how far, listen for geese honking high in the sky. (They're singing a song to remember you by.) Or notice the bears asleep at the zoo. (It's because they've been dancing all night for you.)...For never before in story or rhyme (not even in once upon a time) has the world ever known a you, my friend, and it never will, not ever again..."
How beautiful is that?
Plus, from a reading recovery teacher's perspective, it has great text layout. I give this one a 10!
